Actually, it's better to catch flies with honey than vinegar. I'd offer the guy $50 for his trouble, if he'd give me the title.
That's a good idea. On the other hand, if you charge $5 a day storage, maybe you can get a mechanics lien against it. How many days have you had it times 5? This will give you a definite number if you want to go to small claims court to obtain a title.

Don't see how that would work as the title holder had nothing to do with him obtaining the truck. In fact, he could claim he is a victim of theft and demand his truck back.

Rules on that vary by state as well. In michigan, you actually have to be a licensed business to file a lien on a vehicle for storage..... (at least, you did a couple decades back, when I was concerned about such things. )
No it isn't. I'd still figure storage charges. If you tell the guy there is X amount of storage charges but you'll give him $50 to clear the title up and forgive the storage in return for title to the truck, he may figure it's more trouble than it's worth to try and get the truck back. Whether you can actually do that or not, well he may not want the hassle.

First he has to get him to actually talk to him...... I suppose leaving the info in a voicemail may get his attention???
Some people are just mean jerks that hate life and wish pain and trouble on any that cross their path best to avoid them. Move on is a good deal worth it this guy is in another State just that alone tells me move on.
In your state, is it legal to charge storage? Maybe hit him up for storage, then trade for the title.
FWIW. I would spend the consulation fee with a lawyer to find out how to go forth.
No AZ does not allow a private citizen to charge storage.
There are a couple of legal options I have, I chose not to discuss them at all right now. I helped some people out, I did it in good faith, they back pedaled when they were out of danger. I am confident I could get the title for this truck if I want it bad enough. I am looking at a different one now. I do know for a fact, this guy will never get this truck back at no expense to him. I am a nice guy, until I'm not. We will see how it plays out between now and the end of the year.

I have left a few voice mails asking him to call. AZ MVD has emailed him and left voice mails he has yet to respond. I sent him legal documents certified mail return receipt on the 23rd.
