Default 1999 Dakota

I have a 1999 Dodge Dakota slt. When I pop the hood it says 4.7L and the 4.7 didn't arrive until 2000. Any suggestions?

Might have been a very late built 99. Sometimes you can find some weird combo's that don't "exist" if your car was built close enough to the release of the next model. For example my Escape has components that were introduced in 2011 on the engine but its a 2010.

Does the title say its a 99, or are you basing this off the production date?

Does it have coil packs or a distributor? Someone might have swapped hoods.
