Default Blinking driver's side high beam headlamp

Hello all,

I have an 02 Dodge Dakota with a misbehaving driver's side high beam. It is randomly flashing or flickering. No effect on the driver's side low beam, the passenger side high/low beam, or dash lights.

I removed the driver's side headlight assembly and changed the bulb; No difference. I pushed and pulled on the wire loom at the headlight; no effect. I removed the power distribution cover and wiggled all the circuit breakers and wire loom; the high beam filament blinked, but it is random so the wiggling may or may not have been involved.

In summary: the driver's side high beam filament randomly blinks. Nothing else in the lighting system seems to be affected. If it was the ground I would expect both driver's side high and low beam would flicker. How do I diagnose this? Any prior experience with this problem?

Thanks,
Geno

Does the low beam flicker as well? They both use the same ground..... Left and right have separate grounds though. Left side should be near the battery. On my full size, it's a stud on the radiator support, right in front of the battery.

Driver's side low beam is steady. It's only the driver's side high beam.

I would be looking at a possible power problem then. You can find the headlight wiring diagrams here.

In 2002 the headlights are driven by the CTM. Each bulb has it's own driver, one for high and a separate one for low beam.
You're likely looking at a CTM replacement or bypass.
