Most likely a unibody truck wannabe.

It's just as ugly as the full size truck. As far as I'm concerned the Dakota died when they redesigned it for 2005. What where they thinking?

I agree with you on looks, however my 06 with the 4.7 flex fuel was fun little truck to drive, and decent mileage getter. Its funny a 5.7 never found its way under the hood, factory

Way back when, I was at the Dodge dealer looking at Daks, but, at that time, they didn't offer a V-8.... or so the salesman though at least.... As when I asked him if I could get one with an 8, his response was "It doesn't need it."........ I think the 8's came out the following year.

That must have been a fluke year? I dont recall a V8 never being an option, I had a 1st gen 92 and 94 MarkIII both with magnum (318?) V8s, the gens 2s had the 4.7 or 360, I have a 2001 Sport sitting in my yard with a 360, that one i had to research, I never recalled a 360 in the gen 2s I thought only the 4.7, but it was optional on the sports, then of course I had my 06 with a 4.7. I just figured the 4.7 was always an option since its debute

I saw a possible new Dakota based on a truck currently sold in Brazil. 4 doors and tiny bed in back. Decent looking, but I'd want to see one in person first.

87 was the first year for Dakota's.... 89 was the first year a V-8 was offered. (Shelby version.) 91 I think was the first year there was a non-shelby V-8 version offered.

Seems 87 to 91 was V8 less. What I don't understand why wasn't the 4.7HO available in them? I see the R/T's wanting stupid money for them but the 4.7HO made more HP than the 5.9. Hemi also should have been an option.
As when I asked him if I could get one with an 8, his response was "It doesn't need it."
Let me the buying public decide what is "needed". The motors they put in some cars made no scene, Like a V6 in a Challenger. Why? Guess some people like driving like an old granny. Usually the ones I get stuck behind going to work. They drive like they have all the time in the world and 30 MPH is fast enough for me.

Hey now ....there's a cult following for the 3rd gens...lol.....we had a lot of fun coming up with personalization's pieced together to modify our trucks since there was and still is ZERO aftermarket support for that generation. With a tuner and a few bolt ons, the 4.7 is a blast to drive and a very capable truck.
