Default How do you press these in?

How is one supposed to press this lower bushing in? I've never had to install one designed like this with a rubber lip on both sides. I tried to press it in like a normal one and the rubber blew apart. 01 Dakota 4x4.

Put a bolt/washer thru it, press on the bolt.

Ya, i figured that much. But it was the other side that tore the rubber to shreds on the way in. I assume lube it up maybe with something that won't deteriorate the rubber?

Dielectric grease or silicone spray won't attack rubber.

I'll give that a try. Got plenty of dielectric grease.

Hey, what's up?

I guess I need to clean out these PMs. These supermodels just won't stop messaging me. 😊 Just post your question in my old thread.

Hi There,

Look for:

Super Lube 92003 Silicone Lubricating Grease with PTFE...

I used this a few years back when redoing the entire front 4x4 suspension (sway bar bushings/steering/ball joints/upr and lower A-arms etc.). Stuff worked great!
Also, I used a large vice w/ wood blocks to "slowly compress" the various bits into the cylinder openings (might need a third hand to get things stabilized while applying pressure). Alternate is to rent a "ball-joint" style press at your local auto-parts shop.
