Dual Battery?
Has anybody set up a dual battery system in there Dak? If so, where did you put the second battery? Some people have mentioned putting it in the bed, but what I need it for, it is too far away for the amp draw. It would be a lot of heavy guage wiring to run for and aft for this.
hey
he has a winch and a rack of lights, i have a similar setup, and that is alot of strain on the battery, that was to answer dakotaboy's question..
as for you 28this, sorry can really give you ideas, on where to put it, i was looking for a bigger alternator, the biggest i found for the 4.7L dak was 136amp, wich is stock, if you ask for it, i think.. i have to double check that one.. i hope you find a spot for it, for not too much trouble..

sorry didn't notice that you had a v6 there.. but i would think, you would have a little bit more room under the hood.. you would definatly need to fabricate something.. let me know, cause when i use my winch, it doesn't matter how high i rev it, it still suck most of the juice out, never stall but, i'm sure if i put my rack of lights on wich is 440w all together, it might stall..

Even though mt Dak is a V6, it also has the stalk 136amp alt on it to. It should be plenty even with lights on (mines 400 watts) and a draw from the winch. I just have to turn the stereo off. It will still be better with the second battery and a battery isolater. I've already found an isolater for it too. I just have to figure out where to put bat 2 so I don't have to run so much heavy guage wire.
You could probably cram a pair of Optima batteries in the engine bay if you turned them sideways and fabricated some sort of custom battery box instead of using the OEM tray. I have also seen a Durango built for car shows which had 2 batteries, they ended up using a round air intake on top of the throttle body and put the 2nd battery where the OEM airbox used to sit.

I know that, I recommended the kit so he could add another battery since it comes with all of the cables and hardware. I didn't have too much time to explain with my last post. The box can be mounted just about anywhere that can support the weight of the battery, including under the hood.
