Clutch Fan? HELP PLEASE
i just recently put a new clutch fan in my dakota, but i still have a buzzing noise like you are in an airplane in 3rd forth and fifth gear, when you are giving it gas, somone said it is still my clutch fan because it is not spinning freely, so i put another one in and it still does it, is there anything else that could be stopping it from spinning freely, im out of ideas and it is very annoying to drive with that noise all the time, Thanks for anyhelp!
first off are you sure its the fan? remove the fan an take it for a drive. dont go to far from home just incase. if the buzzing is gone than you know its the fan, if not than its something else. if the buzzing is gone look up flex lite fans .com and see if they have a direct fan that will bolt up eliminating the clutch. most people do this anyway because it frees up a little more power
The fan should never stop moving. When you start your truck the fan should be turning at the same speed as the engine, after a couple min it should slow down. Another test you can do is after the truck has warmed up turn it off and go rotate the fan with your hand. If it turns about 2 time its fine. But if it spins like a top you need a new clutch fan. I dont think its your clutch fan.
Yea i took the fan off today and drove it and it still makes the noise, It is in like 3rd through 5th gear and it is only when you are accellerating, so i have no clue what it could be.
I just found some new information that might help you
You notice a buzzing noise from the car whenever you start to move forward or in reverse. The noise is not there when you have the car in park or neutral, and it seems to go away after the car has been driven a while or when you are moving at higher speeds. The problem seems to occur more regularly.
Probable Causes:
1. The transmission's fluid level is low.
2. The fluid in your transmission is contaminated.
3. You have an internal problem in the transmission.
4. Your torque converter is bad.

what does the trans mount do? i dont know the most about trucks, but i took it to the shop and they say i need a new one of those, would that have anything to do with this noise, because it only happens when you hit the gas so i dont know if that has something to do witht he power getting to the wheels or what not, because i took it off road and a rock hit the bottom pretty hard,???????????????
