I work at Best Buy, we cary Pioneer, Alpine, Jvc, Kenwood, Duel, Insignia, and Sony...

Duel/Insigna/Sony = All are bad brands do not buy if your looking for quality sound/ units.

Kenwood/JVC = Good brands, useally good prices and features, not that bad.

Pioneer = Good brand, you get more features for money with them, and it gives you alot more option with the EQ and most of the time has some nice layouts and leds on there units.

Alpine = Been around for A LONG time.. probably the best brand you can go with, best sound quality out of all the units, easy to use, sleek and look pretty cool, little bit more expensive but totally worth it. Reliable and a damn good brand.

I have a panasonic that i bought from my work that was last years display unit. i got the remote and everything with it. It retails for $300, and i was able to pick it up for 50 bucks. Its a good solid unit with a lot ofEQ options, Sub control, tilt options, brightness control, cd/cdr/mp3. I'm Really impressed with it!

I live in Texas near fortworth/dallas. The Best Buy i work at is in Grapevine, Tx. They have some of the best installers, i work on the floor most of the time, but i also help with installs and do "side work" for people.

Best Buy is a good place just make sure you have a good person working on the truck. Make sure there certified and all that good stuff.

If you wait till the new add comes out, this coming sunday, all decks 99 and up should be Free to install.

and decks below 99 are 49.99 to install..

you will also need parts, Dash kit and a wire harness and as long as your dak isnt 03+ then thats all you need. So that about an extra 40 bucks, 20dollars each.

so..

$99.99+ Decks = Free after this week
$99.99- Decks = 49.99
Dash kit = 19.99
Wire harness = 19.99
Materials Charge = 5.00 (this charge is on all installs)

2channel amp = 69.99
4channel amp = 79.99
sub installs = 14.99 each sub
just if you wanted to know.

Also if i went with any deck there, when you go in either get Alpine or Pioneer, dont let them talk you into anything else.

The cheapest deck alpine has with sub control/ipod ready/built in amp ect.. is 179.99 i think its the 9852 model.

if you want satillite ****/ipod/bluetooth/all that good crap you have to get the 199.99 deck. The 179 is useally what i sell people if they dont want sattilie radio.. even though its ready for that ****, you still have to buy a 99.99 satillite box, 199.99 bluetooth box, 99.99hd box, and a 29.99 ipod cable.

Let me know if you have more questions...

Lil does have a 03+ dakota though... It's an 04, I'm not sure what the difference would be. I just installed My deck last week and my mount kit was 17.99, and the wire harness was 9.99. It also only took me under half an hour. Everything on the dash comes off really easy. There were actually instructions included with the install kit to remove the dash. Just a few screws by the gauges and a bunch of clips and it popped right off. The only part i didn't like was unplugging the switches and tryin not to snap anything, but it went smooth. IF there is a charge, I would attempt it yourself, if not, why not have someone else install it... I'm sure you'll get some sort of warranty with it then as well. Just my $.02

let me just say...this is my personal opinion

Alpine...is the best...might be a little pricey...but they use great lasers...i have a hard time finding a cd that doesnt play in alpine...

Sony=sucks...have had nothing but bad experiences with the company from computers to cd players

Pioneer= its ok i guess for the price...but everyone and their brother has one

Kenwood= pretty good value sometimes is expensive depending on the model

anything else is either no-name brand(crappy) or...to expensive for the average man to afford =o)
Agreed.... 100%... I've had almost every deck out there... no lie. I love audio so it's no wonder I own one of Alpine's top-of-the-line decks, mine doesn't have the DVD player or big screen. I can't recall the model number, but I got it last christmas and it was 700+ dollars. I love Alpine, you get what you pay for...

All I can say is this, 4V pre-outs, for all three outputs, a high/low pass filter rated at 24dB... 18W RMS, multi-color illumination... can't go wrong.

I pick Alpine out of anything. Alpine is the only deck I will ever use.

Period.

Lifetime warrenty on installs at bestbuy.

03+ uses antanna adapters, if im not mistaken.

you can get harnesses at walmart and ****, but they might not have all the wires.. just your main powers/speakers

If you can install it yourself its easy as ****, dodge and ford are easy! Color coded.. and easy to do. Grab some cripers, wire cutters, and ele tape and go to town.

I had a $99 sony deck for about 3 years, andnever had a problem with it. I bet the stupid kid that stole itacouple months ago has never had a problem with it either

best buy/ future shop all give extended warranties. I would look into getting it when you buy a deck. I got a 2 year warranty on my jvc deck. never had to use it yet, but its good to have.
