well the inspection stations that are around me look for that kind of stuff too which means that they know if the O2 sensor from after the cat is missing so i need to have it in, need to have a wire going to it, and i need to have the cel off so im screwed at this point unless i find a way to do that but idk ill see what i can do and let you guys know
Me and my buddy looked beforehand, and we couldnt find one.. then after the guy cut the cat off, as far as we gathered.. there isn't an O2 sensor from after the cat. Theres 2, one in each cat coming right off of the engine. But as far as the big main cat that does all the real restricting.. no O2 sensor. I believe its perfectly legal right now.. I didn't remove the O2 sensor, I sitll have 2 perfectly funcitonal cats with 2 perfectly functional O2 sensors, and no engine light.

that sounds the same as my 3.9 too. I just dumped mine right after the cab, so mines a bit louder.

but here, it's soo hard to pass an e-test. you have to have a full exhaust and cats.

I would have just got a highflow cat. I have one on the 99 and it made a big difference from the old clogged one.

i dont think that was a cat you cut off. i think it was the frt resonator. my dak has the two upper cats and a resonator off the pipes.

There are two things you can do, either cut 'em off completely, or you can get the high-flow cats. They are built w/ a straight thru desigh, but also are supposed to work better than factory (dont have one on my truck, but will soon). What I did was just hollowed the cat out, gave it kind of a tinny sound under the pass. floorboard, but really sounds good w/ lots of power. I put a Flowmaster (I know, I know, your all suprised) w/ a turndown in front of the rear axle, ad I think it sounds great, and no tail pipes to get in the way!

No, I beleive what your truck has are two preheat cats and a main cat. The preheat cats are just below the header and are much smaller so they heat up alot faster to catch most of the bad exhaust gasses until the main cat heats up enough to work. They also continue to work along with the main cat to pull the bad gasses from the exhaust. The o2sensors only need to be on the preheat cats to monitor the exhaust gasses coming out of the engine and then after the preheat to make sure they are doing their jobs, Thats why there's no o2sensore at the main cat. The main cat is kinda like an extra security feature to catch most of the rest of the gasses that the preheat cats can't catch. In most states as long as you have the main cat in place (gutted) you will be fine for the visual inspection and the ob2test. But if they ever start testing you exhaust from the tailpipe also then you will be screwed. Some states already do this.

Welcome to California. I think people are issing the fact that this will be grossly polluting as well. Keep the cats on. If this was going to be used on a track-only vehicle, I would say not to worry, but cutting a cat off ofa daily driver seems a bit foolish.

Just my $.02

I second that! Think about the future a bit, in general, don't do it, there isn't a significant gain of more than maybe 2hp MAYBE and if you want good sound get a V-8...or in a V-6 use free flow cats and take out all the resonators.

also for you guys that dont want to or can cut your cats out. try giving CGS performance a call they have high flow cats and different o2 sensors that should just bolt in

that all sounds good an it is good to see that we have a couple of enviromentalists in the group+(im being nice about it) but i dont know what the deal is with my cat but i do have that tinny sound when i step on the gas hard enough, usually aroun 2500RPMs to 3000RPMS when going up a hill or under a load.
