I hit a deer.
Today i was driving to my dads on a back road. I was just driving alon, driving along, doing about 35-40mph. When all of a sudden 4 or five deer run out in front of me. I slammed onthe brakes and steered left to avoid them. But i could'nt. I ended up clipping the last one with the right side or the bumper/grille. Damage includes: rightside headlight, hood/grille, and radiator (when i hit, the top right radiator bracket(i guess its called) broke and the radiator went into the fan). And thats what happened. I am very upset because of my truck and i feel bad i hit the deer. But they were dumb enough to jump in front of a dakota. Yes, the deer did die a couple minutes after i hit it.
And another thing, dont swerve to avoid them. Just hit them. Falls under "act of god" with insurance companies and comprehensive insurance takes care of it (ie no deductable). Swerve and hit something like a tree, then comp pays and you probably will be paying a deductable and it could affect your rates.
Then again, hitting a deer isnt as bad as hitting a tree, pole, guard rail or rolling over.

I smoked a deer acouple years ago with my cavi. I only had it on he road for a month. it totalled the car. so I ended up just parting the car out after that. but I would never swerve to miss something. theres more of a chance to roll over or hit something else.
