Do i need A/C
My 99 5.2 Dodge dakota is currently in the shop. They told me i couldnt bypass my a/c but to have it fixed is about $600 and i dont have that kind of money so any alternatives or advice would be greatly appreciated.
buy the smaller belt and don't use it...ask what is wrong that is 600 bucks...see what they tell ya is wrong...it may just be low on refrigerant and they are trying to take you for a ride i have a small leak in my grand am, i have to fill it once a year or so...but its not worth it to me to change out the evaporator
If they say you can't bypass your A/C they are milking you
It's BS i tell ya, you just need a smaller belt and it'll run right around it
if the compressor pully is in the way 4 bolts hold it down but not for long,
you will actually free up a couple horses by passing it

what you need to do is measure the belt lenght with out going around the compresor. and go to the auto parts store and see what lenghts they have. depending on the lenght you may need to put a belt off of a ford or chevy, but dont worry .a serpentine belt is a belt.
