The paint on the roof of my truck is peeling off. Its still has some sort of sealant on it, so not down to the metal or anything but i live on the coast and rust is a problem, anyone heard of a recall for this. Its starting to come off now on the passenger door, its sad my truck isn't so cool anymore....
My 98's starting to degrade at the rear of the roof also. Gonna have to respray it this summer along with the front bumper which that crappy plastic coating peeled off.
My roof was also peeling on my '99.
Had it re-painted when I had the fender & tailgate done.
The buddy of mine that owns the body shop where I had
the work done said he's doing roofs & hoods on Dakota's
about once a month. Said it's fairly common.
I also have a Dodge Dakota (1998) that the paint is peeling on the roof and hood . The clear coat started to peel first and then the paint. I have been trying to find out if there is a recall on this problem
the front and rear bumpers on my 97 did that. it was only a year old at the time, so i threw a fit till they (dealer) repainted them. my next door neighbor had a 98 that did the same thing. so far no other part of the truck is affected.
Actually I forgot to mention its not peeling. Its the clear oxidizing. Bumpers were plastisized paintand its about as durable as spray paint from the hardware store (translation, sucks ***).
I have an 2000, and the paint is peeling on the roof as well. Just give me the excuse to get it repainted now.
I am not mad just agrivated. But it will look perdy again soon!
