Yep... Gettin' ready to do my 3.9-5.2 swap in my 2000 Dakota. first I'm gonna take a month or so to rebuild the motor. Rip it all down clean it, hone it, new rings, gaskets and bearings, and give er a pretty paint job before it goes in the truck. I will keep pictures and updates here to show you how its goin. Cant wait to get started!

Quick question. Are the flywheels/driveplate the same in the 3.9 and 5.2?

I believe so, but wait for someone else to reply to confirm it.

close, but what about the wiring harness, did you get the one that comes with the motor? or are you going to have one reprogramed, also make sure the truck is wired for the v8 its not just a plug and play

I did not get any wiring harness yet. I was planning on using my old v6 harness and wiring in the 2 injectors. I did get the pcm out of the truck with the motor though. Im good friends with a mechanic at my local dodge dealer, so if he said if i run into any problems like that they can reprogram the pcm. He says it should just work fine though.

Speaking of... Does anyone have advice on how to wire in the injectors for cylinders 7&8. Im not sure where to begin on that. Any help would be appreciated.

flywheel plate is different. Not by weight, but by the little holes around the outside, a v6 has 2 for each cyl and a v8 has 8 around the entire thing.

so there you go, need one. Go to the dealer or summit might even have one.

Thanks varsis. It looks like on the PCM(C2) for the 3.9/4.7/5.9, that injector 7 is pin#2, and injector 8 is pin#13.

Now... There are are two wires coming out of each injector, I assume one of the wires follows the harness up in to the designated pin of the 32 pin input to the PCM... But where does the other one go? is it a ground, and if so where does that need to be ran?

I know I seen before that you said you wish you would have just wired in your injectors when you did your 5.9 swap. Any sort of step by step here would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note... The motor is almost completely ripped down to the bare block now, with each part, and bolt labeled. I will have pictures up later today of the progress

Alright, I just bought a Haynes manual, and it looks like the second wire of the injectors are all spliced together in one spot, that turns in to one wire leading to PCM(C3) pin #12, which is an automatic shutdown relay output. Where would that spot in the harness be, so i can splice 7&8 in to it as well?
