MPG on Hemi Durango
Has anyone gotten more then 20 mpg on a Hemi Durango? I have a 05 stock with 97K on the original plugs and wires. I know laugh now, but I drive a lot. On the highway I get 19 to 21 mpg at 80 to 85mph. I was hoping to bump that up some more. K & N FIPK, exhaust, any suggestions? And yes I am changing the plugs an wires soon, assuming I don't strip the threads.
Also, a little more vehicle history, I ran 95K on original tires and 93K on original front brakes(just pads). So needless to say I have had a pretty go truck so far. The only bad thing I could say is that I had my heads redone twice. It was blowing blue smoke since new until about 45K. I won't go in to that story on this thread, but needless to say a good dealership means a world of difference(and no I didn't have a good dealer). Thanks in advance for all of your input.

I wish I could get that kind of mpg! I'm lucky to get 16.5 on the highway. I drive 30 miles to work one wayand it's about 25 miles on the interstate. I installed a AFE cold air intake with no change. What gives?
Who knows? I talk about nothing but horsepower increase. Common sense would lead you to belive that more HP = more effiency and should = better MPG if you keep your foot out of it. Hence this post. That sucks to hear you haven't seen a change. I am on the fence if it is work my time and money to try. I might just have to go buy a throw away honda for MPG. But, I would rather spend $500 in upgrades then 3K for a beater.

The OEM plugs on your D are rated for 30K tops. You will notice a hell of an improvement just by changing the plugs. I would bet that the gaps on your plugs are crazy huge.
BTW,I assume all you guys are going by the method of dividing miles travelled by gallons used over several fillups. If you are going by the computer, you will find it to be inconsistent and not very accurate.

Driving from Las Vegas to Southern California we would get between 16 and 17mpg averaging 80mph. Pulling a 4500lb20' Jayco trailer we would get around 6mpg going 55 to 60 mph.
I figure my mpg on miles per tank over several fill ups. My best mileage onone tank was 465miles, I filled up and it took 21 gallons.

I normally see around 21.5 to around 23 highway. I have an '05 Hemi Limited. I think I average 15.5-16 per tank with half and half city/highway.
I did change plugs around 30K and use mainly 87 octane fuel.
