Now that is a nice way to start the New Year. Thanks for that post, DodgeCares.

Tinman,

I was hoping to be able to post this earlier as I have been following this thread but unfortunately I cannot post on what may be happening in the future. I have to wait until the corporation officially releases a bulletin or recall before I can post it. I hope it helps some people and as I said, if they expand it or include other models I will post as soon as I possibly can.

Is that a lifetime recall or one that only counts while in warranty?

I believe the TSB said lifetime, at least when I read it.

Dramer,

It is unlimited time and mileage. The dealer can find this information by running your VIN through the Chrysler system. The extended coverage on this part can be found by them under type of warranty coverage and is listed as coverage code X39.

Safety Recall H45

Fuel Tank Inlet Check Valve
2005 (HB) Dodge Durango
NOTE: This recall applies only to the above vehicles built from October 13, 2004
through November 30, 2004 (MDH101300 through 113023).
The fuel tank inlet check valve on about 18,900 of the above vehicles may stick in
the open position. This can cause fuel to spill out of the filler tube when the
vehicle is being refueled. Fuel in the presence of an ignition source can result in a
fire.
The fuel tank inlet check valve must be tested for proper operation. Vehicles with
a sticking check valve must have the fuel tank replaced.
Models
IMPORTANT: Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer used vehicle
inventory. Dealers should complete this recall service on these vehicles before
retail delivery. Dealers should also perform this recall on vehicles in for service.
is there an easy way to find out if mine is included in this?

Dramer,

While I understand a dealer often hears the internet line and may be skeptical, they could at least pull up your VIN on their system and check. That is why I posted the TSB # and how the dealer looks it up. I would think that if the dealer heard DealerConnect, TSB #, and X39 warranty coverage they might just think that maybe the customer has some clue as to what they are talking about. That's what I get for thinking. If you PM me your VIN I can look it up for you.

Scheduled a late afternoon visit with my dealership on Friday to fix my wife's Durango. Mentioned the TSB in the description of the service requested (scheduled it via their online tool last night). They haven't called me to tell me they need more time for part availability or with questions... we shall see.

I am half sure we will go in on Friday, and they'll say "You want what now? We didn't look at your service request until five minutes before you showed up..."

Just a gut feeling.
