Alright, so got the Durango back an hour ago. Went grocery shopping, then filled her up... she still spews fuel, nothing has changed other than the fact that they scraped the heck out of the paint around the gas door's edge.

Wonder if there is any chance of them ever TSBing or recalling the fuel tank. The service manager told me when we picked it up, "Did all the work covered in that TSB, and I hope it fixes it for you, but if not, then we are looking at replacing the gas tank."

He did make a comment that they do get a lot of the Durangos of this model year range in for gas tank replacement.

So either they didn't actually replace it, and gave me a false receipt (looking to grab my money for a gas tank replacement), or the gas tanks are the problem, and not the check valve.

Please read all the posts in this thread. My own posts covers your repeated problems, and please be sure and read the Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that covers the issue(s). The gas filling problems, be it "spewing out", or refusing to accept gas, are interrelated. That is to say, one may have one or both of these problems at different or the same times. The gas tank issues/problems cover several different parts running from the engine to the tank itself ! All or some of these parts may have to be replaced from the tank to filler arms, to parts on the engine. The TSB covers all of this and requires parts to be replaced in a sequential, troubleshooting order. I went through this sequence with my dealer, replacing two tanks, the filler arm, and parts in the engine. Again, the TSB lays all of this out!

I had to have my tank replaced in my 2008 Durango for the same reason. Everything I have read I understand as the check valve is in the tank and is not a replaceable part. You must do the entire tank.

The tank and inlet were replaced on mine about a year ago and all is well. I do notice that after I replace the cap (no more purging) and drive home form the gas station that there is a trail from my gas door down to the wheel. Strange thing about it is that it is dark and gritty and does not smell like gasoline. I think it may be road water forcing its way through the fender well and gas inlet. The dealer that replaced my tank and inlet tube must not have sealed the compartment and forgot the gasket, if there was one there before the repair,

Replaced the fuel filler tube and splash guard per TSB today. Works great...no more fuel fountains...just a click and that's it!

Thanks for all your help!

Can any of you that had anything fixed to relieve the problem tell me if before fixing the DTC codes P0456 and P0457 would come up sometimes? I know they are Evap codes, and I am hoping getting the TSB parts replaced this Friday will clear those codes up to where they never show up again. I have to pass emissions this month, so I am tired of trying to reset and hope all but the evap system is back up and running then hurry to an emissions place. In our state 5 of 6 monitors have to be back up. Last year luckily after reseting the only one that was not up was Evap and it passed emissions without a DTC showing up, although it did 1-2 days later :-)

I am feel confident these codes go away after the repair, but what say you guys?

Without specifically identifying the codes, perhaps a new gas cap will take care of the problem.

I stated the codes in the last post P0456 and P0457, and obviously I checked all common issues (such as gas cap) before I posted the post. I am pretty confident people on here having the fuel spitting problems like I am have had those codes get thrown before. I just wanted to know if fixing the fuel spitting issue also fixed the codes, or if I will most likely have to search more after everything gets fixed.

I went to my dealership this afternoon for that and the 2005 durangos are not covered for this issue ...
He told me that it would be $200 to fix the problem which can be either the valve or the gas tank or the tubes or something else ...
Well, for that amount of money, I'll stick with that "little" problem and that's it

SlickDaddy96...I understand you stated the codes...I just didn't know what, exactly, the codes were for without looking them up myself. As you know, there are a lot of Oafs who troll these websites and many do not have a stinkin' clue which end is up. that is why I mentioned the gas cap possibility first. I would not have any idea that you had checked that out before your post without my reading that somewhere first. Therefore, it was not obvious to anyone just reading what you had posted that you checked out all of the obvious potential pitfalls and pratfalls before you had posted.
