Gas fill overflow on my 06 durango
Another true story on this off topic...A not-so-intelligent individual used an acetylene torch to cut open a 55 gal. drum that had been used to store gasoline. He had known what was previously in that drum. He is no longer with us.
I had to pay $231.00 with tax and a couple gallons of fuel for my repair and Chrysler picked up $700.00 balance. They refunded me $201.00 today, but would not refund the taxes. If you had to pay for the repair send in your receipt and they should reimburse you less taxes.

Update: Today I got mine rediagnosed and was told that not one, but two valves were stuck. I need the fuel filler tube and the gas tank. The gas tanks are in stock in NY but the filler tube is backordered indefinitely. So, I guess I am still out of luck because no one knows when the filler tubes are coming back in stock.
As to the TSB, I have a solid theory on why my 2006, along with others, is not covered under the TSB. When quoted the price for the filler tube, 434$, it was different than the price on the TSB filler tube. I asked my service guy and he went and checked with parts. When my VIN is pulled, a different filler tube part number comes up. So, my theory is the TSB only applies to those Durangos that use the filler tube listed, not my Durango that uses a different filler tube.
I guess I am not getting this fixed before deployment in 9 days...

sarguy01,
First, thank you for your service. Stay safe! Past USAR here (MOS72E)
On the backorder of parts, that all started when parts providers lost their asses after the bankruptcy. Some got nothing on millions of dollars worth of shipped inventory to Chrysler. Needless to say, many didn't make it. Most folks would be shocked at how small some suppliers are to the Big3 Automakers. The remaining parts providers were not immune to the proceedings either. Most lost a lot during the bankruptcy too. Thus their old $15 parts are now $45 to try to make some of that lost revenue back.
Good luck on having it all in stock for when you get back.

Well to add a new twist to all this it turns out that Chrysler has done a revision to the TSB. Its pretty much the same as the original except for that its now covering Durangos built from 02/01/06 thru 03/01/08....
That would go along with my theory that the filler tube changed mid year.
Got mine repaired last week. Was skeptical as the dealer wouldn't confirm that the parts were in stock prior to me driving 40 minutes to get there. Thankfully, all went well and I didn't pay a dime. Filled up this week with no trouble! Yay!
My charcoal canister is now purging out the fuel door and down the side of the Durango. I wonder if it is contaminating the fuel and clogging up the fuel filter. Does anyone esle have this problem after their tank and inlet tube were replaced or repaired?
