Gas fill overflow on my 06 durango
Yes, there was a part or part(s) in the engine area that needed replacement. I believe it was the charcoal canister. The service adviser explained that the part(s) were part of the fuel delivery system, and included in the TSB on the overfill problem. He explained further that overfilling the tank or topping off the tank when filling up, will cause excess fuel to travel into the canister thereby causing damage. He went on and stated that that is a primary reason for urging people not to "top off" their tank. I am merely repeating what he told me.
I actually heard something similar on NPR's "Car Talk" a few months ago. Ever since then, I've quit "topping off" when fueling (unless it's a rental).

OK, so not sure what happened, but my wife's Durango stopped spraying at fillup. So I still baby it while it's working, but the last few times, no spray. I'm skeptical, so I won't say it fixed itself, but so far so good.
If you have not gotten the TSB done on it yet, then you are experiencing what I and many others on here were experiencing. As the temperature gets warmer outside the fumes of the gas get more volatile, so therefore the automatic pump cut-off detects gas sooner and it does not overflow. This should be the case all the time, but because of our tank/filler tube defect it overflows at low temperatures such as in Winter and late fall. My experience was once the temperatures were above about 60 degrees or so outside I had less issue with overflow. Doesn't mean it is fixed though because it definitely is not.

PM me your vins and I will see if they will be covered or not. It is warranty extension X39 and should show in the dealers computer. If you called customer service they should be able to tell you immediately if it's covered or not. They should not have to look into anything. Maybe something is getting lost in the translation but the correct term to mention is warranty extension X39. Like I said PM me your vin if you want to know for sure.
