Flowmaster and K&N
(2008 4.7L Adventurer 2WD)
I just added the a 50 series (SUV) Flowmaster and also replaced the stock resonator with a low profile resonator so now it is not longer visible. When I spoke with the guys at Flowmaster about the choices I was considering, either the 50 series or the 70 series, they recommend the 50 series SUV because of the smaller 4.7L. In retrospect I wish I went with the 70 series. The 50 series sounds incredible, but probably a little to loud. When I step on it, others defiantly hear you coming. My wife really likes the sound, but the 50 might get replaced in the future for the 70. I also just added the K&N 57 series cold air in take. As for the performance, the alone muffler did added a little more get up especially when accelerating from 30+ and 50+. With the K&N, it defiantly added additional get up and go. The combination of the two defiantly added power you can feel. As for additional MPG, I’ll let you know latter, but the Durango does sound good.
Has anyone added a chip or tuner to a 2008 4.7L
Future Modifications: 22” when the bonus comes.

Unfortunately, the HEMI is not an option for me because of the complete lack of trucks.
I was only able to find 2 and both were over an hour away. One was a Hybrid and the dealer wouldn't budge on price so I went for the 4.7 SLT.
After taking it out for a test drive I was impressed by the power and acceleration. It wasn't HEMI-like but it was no slouch, either. I don't know if the guys knocking the 4.7 have driven the new and improved '09 version but I think it will satisfy alot of people. Driving back from the dealer over 200 miles, doing between 75-80, it gave me 18.2 MPG on the computer.
I will look into the K&N CAI. Maybe next year I'll shoot for a cat-back system.
I was also wondering about any tuner chips but, do they really work? If there was a Mopar Performance upgrade I'd buy it. I have the Stage 1 installed in our '07 PT GT and it is a totally different animal than stock. Not sure about aftermarket tuners though...
