Default Good Deal

n8ech.

Found the plug on the tc and popped it off. Road test was good, no phantom 4-locking anymore. I'll deal with the SVC light .

Thanks for the help.

Unhappy 4X4 Issue

Hi, thank you for all of the postings, but unfortunately all I see is $$$$$ of what my 05 Durango 5.7 is going to cost...Dealer of couse didn't know what to do, couldn't diagnose so they sent me away and said it would more than likely get worse and be diagnoseable...Well its there now! I immediately asked on the last visit if they could somehow disconnect the 4X4 and they said no! They told me that if they did it could drift in and out of 4X4 any time it wanted to. Scary to me (a women). Just wanted to know how things are going for you now! Thanks

Wanted to give an update that all is well with my '05 Durango since the repair 6-6-2011. For anyone interested the part number on my receipt is:

05143477AA Gear Motor Transfer Case list price $330.00, dealer employee discount price is about 40% less.

Tip to help possibly save some money - if you know any of the mechanics at the dealer, more than likely they are paid on a commission basis for the repair. Some dealerships may allow mechanics to work on their family or "friend's" cars after hours. You might want to see if this is possible - if it is you will save money on the labor.

Thanks for all the messages regarding the Transfer case motor repair. I feel more prepared for the dreaded phone call that should come today! Good luck and keep me in the loop if anyone starts having troubles again! We are planning a road trip next month and I am hoping this will fix it!
