2007 Durango - Sudden Acceleration when brake applied
Bought a used, 2007 Durango SLT with the Adventure Package about 2 1/2 months ago. 30,000 miles. 4.7 v8 Flex.
I have put 3,200 miles on so far and 3 times since I have had it, I have experienced sudden burst of acceleration at low speeds when the brake is applied. Twice has been in stop and go traffic (very close calls on rear ending someone) and the other was in a residential street. All were sub-10mph when I was accelerating and hit the brake quickly. As soon as the brake is applied, the engine engages and the car speeds up. Pumping the brake, taking the foot off stops the acceleration and reapplying (very quickly)the brakes are applied properly.
I have tried to recreate it and have been unsuccessful. It seems to happen if I brake when the car is about to or is in the act of shifting from 1st to 2nd then the brake engages the gear shift. Thats what it feels like.
I have done some research around and found others have had this issue as well. Exact same symptoms, low speed burst.

Anyone else heard or experienced this?

OK, I know this sounds dumb but it's happened to me on a few occasions too, and I believe it's because of the configuration of the pedals and I'm sure it's because I'm actually pressing the accelerator with my foot as I apply the brake. Perhaps my feet are too big or perhaps I should practice left foot braking but it's scary when it happens. Again, I know this sounds stupid, but ...
