I thought the PCM/TCM used flash memory, and that disconnecting the power had minimal effect on resetting the computer? I'll try it anyway...

FWIW, I just had my '07 Aspen, 5.7L 2WD towed into the dealer. The trans wouldn't shift correctly. I couldn't get more than 1800 RPM and in order to shift gears I had to feather the throttle. Furthermore I couldn't go over 42 MPH.

The dealer Re-Flashed the PCM. The work sheet stated "Seems to be in limp mode will not go over 1800 RPM's. TSB 18-035-07 LOP 18-19-06-79 .4 Flash PCM".

Repaired under warranty.

KKP:
Please let us know hos this turns out. The 545RFE trans in our Durangos are known to be pretty stout pieces of hardware.

Well the D is in the shop again. Took the tech out yesterday with the scan tool hooked up...he noticed it was going into partial lockup a little early, but nothing else. Pressures all good, he couldn't explain why it was doing what it does. CC still doesn't work, either. So...after a little arguing with the service manager who said he can't crack the trans open without a good reasosn, I asked them to pull the pan and replace both filters and fluid. Agreed to the typical $100 deductible. Hopefully this will help. The tech said there were early problems with filters not being installed correctly, or the pan filter splitting and letting air in the system...but he didn't think that was it. Fingers are crossed. Might be time to switch dealers or call Chrysler...which might be like pushing something with a rope.

Do you know if the dealer installed a reman solenoid pack or a new solenoid pack? And did they check the torx screws on the side plate of the valve body? What were the codes you were having before the repairs.

The original repair was for the solenoid...D went into limp home mode. I don't remember the codes. I mentioned the part about possible faulty reman solenoid pack but that seemed to go under the radar. I haven't heard from them since Monday afternoon, seems like they might be digging into this a little farther. (don't mind that...the Journey loaner vehicle with 4 banger gets pretty decent mileage as compared to the D). I will keep y'all posted!

So...service tech calls this morning, tells me they pulled the pan, checked the filters, checked the valve body side plate screws, and found nothing out of line. BUT...they have decided to replace the TC with a new unit. Hallelujah! I've been suggesting it was a TC issue since the shudder problem that popped up after the solenoid pack was installed. They should have it done by tomorrow AM...hopefully this is an end to the journey! (loaner car pun INTENDED)

Still struggling. TC replacement resulted in the return of the dreaded shudder. SO they upgraded the situation to a "severe event' and got corporate involved. Now they have replaced everything but the case (in the service guy's words...) and it still won't downshift correctly. Cruise control won't hold speed on any incline, the pedal goes to the floor but no downshift. So it seems like the CC is trying to do what it's supposed to do, but the trans isn't getting the message. Even without CC engaged I have to almost floor it to get it to downshift out of OD and keep a desired speed.

Frustrated...ya think?

So here we are two months later. I can't begin to tell you how frustrating this is. The D just doesn't want to get up and go. Should it be locking up at 35 mph on a slight grade? I don't think so. The I have to practically floor the thing to get it to accelerate. Some corporate Chrysler guy named Joe Morton took it for a ride (without me along) and declared that all is well. I say BS but they won't do anything else. I think I'm going to hit AAMCO for a second opinion and have them do a diagnostic evaluation. I just want my D back the way it was.

Can the O2 sensors be bad without throwing codes? Or the CATs are clogged? One associate here at the office seems to think that the TCM/PCM is getting bad information, and that is resulting in the erratic tranny and severe mileage drop. Any advice or help is appreciated!
