Default Replacing headlight bulb 2004 Dodge Durango

Can I replace the headlight bulb, of a 2004 Dodge Durango Limited, through the trap door in the wheel well, or do I need to take off the headlight assembly?

Thank you.

So the moderator knows what generation it is, does that moderator know if I can change the bulb from the trap door in the wheel well?

You can change the bulb from the trap door although it is only to loosen a nut that holds the light assembly in the back. Under the hood there are two (or four) more nuts on top to complete the job.

The video from tattoohead is not applicable to our generation only to the first generation Durango / Dakota.

It can be done if you have very small hands and the tire is out of the way. You have the 10mm nut in the back to get out as well as the 2 above the light and 2 below the light. Then it has 2-3 ball and clips that need to be popped apart.

After a little investigation, I found the easiest method was to use the trap door and remove the nut on the back, then move to the front and rmove the (2) bolts below the headlight, using a long socket and extension. The trap door is great for the smaller handed folks, I could get a hand on the bulb back, but couldn't turn it. Going at it from the front was MUCH easier...I just did it this past weekend.

Thanks to every one for your replies. Guess the "bulb removal only" idea is out, and the headlight assembly removal idea is in.
