Default DTE Gauge reads way less than before.

I have an 04 Durango 5.7L v8 AWD/4WD.. Recently I've had to have my fuel pump replaced (more than once due to faulty pumps) and I have noticed that my DTE Gauge reads way less than it use to. When I'd fill up, it'd read 340 DTE. Now when I fill up the max it goes is 265 DTE. Any idea why? I feel like I am constantly filling it up more than I use to. Maybe I'm just over thinking it.. any ideas?

DTE is a calculation based on many variables. If you want true mileage, use the old fashioned method.

Of course I'll follow my gas gauge.. I was just wondering what could make it drop so much.

Is your gas gauge accurate? What does the computer think your instant fuel economy is?

It seems to be accurate... It says I get about 11MPG.

It bounces between 9 mpg and 11. Lately it has stayed more around the 11. I am not positive, but I think it's 27 gallons. Forgive me for not knowing a whole lot about it.

No worries.

So, by the math, the DTE is about right. They always underestimate a bit, so there is some reserve, to get you to the next gas station. Think I would be more concerned about why it is getting such poor gas mileage. It should be able to do quite a bit better than that.

How many miles on it? Last time it had a tune up? Oil change? Air filter? Etc??

Almost 178k miles. I've recently had the plugs done, all new fluids and filters, pcv valve and air filter. Along with 3 different fuel pumps (finally cranking correctly)! Jan 2018 I had a new water pump put in and a new idler pulley.
