What wiring harness did you use for the engines for the fuel injection? the original from the downer I figure and then how did you hook it into the car?

Also at what degree did you set the rear axle at?

Got any pics of the leaf spring mounts?

How about some clearer pics of the engine mounts as well the ones on the car chassis

I`ll be going to school at Stout... I actually live 20 miles north of Menomonie. That`s cool that he`s teaching at a level that only people who want to learn will be attending, I imagine dealing with lazy teenagers will be the hardest part for me.

Hahaha, do I sense someone`s wheels turning on their own "SRT-8" Intrepid?

The harness and computer came from a 95 Ram; if the 92 Dakota the engine came from would have still been at the yard I would have robbed them from that. I eyeballed this rearend, but I would imagine it`s around 5*... I`ll worry more about that stuff when I swap in the 8 3/4" and the 360. I remade the front spring mounts, so the pics here aren`t right anymore. Also the rear mounts, by rights, should be further ahead since I moved the front mounts. The engine mounts are nothing more than a piece of 2" square tube welded to the stock `92 Dakota block mounts and the bottom part of the car`s stock mounts.

Don`t worry, I plan to get a good video of the underside when I put it up on a friend`s hoist to finish my exhaust

I didn't remember Stout having a sound Science Ed. program. But then I don't remember much of Stout other than the Log Jam, OB, The Buck, Meet Market, The office, The Den, Teds Pizza, Stout henge (rocks around the student union), couch rafting down the Red Cedar ending up in Downsville. oh and steaks at TJ's in Downsville rocked.

Stout`s program is only a couple of years old, but it`s already made a name for itself... Sounds like you`ve spent a few nights in Menomonie with a good crowd that knows full well there`s plenty to do around here :P

How do you splice the two wiring harnesses together to work with the car and the computers details please????

were did the cars harness end and the trucks computer and harness take over?

I realize that the prints are going to be needed and referenced in all aspects of the merge between the two But a few tips on what and where what needs to be done would be a great help I would like to try to do this swap myself looks like a lot of fun..

Been looking at the two Intrepids I have and been looking at an old wrecked Durango up the street....

Basically rip out all the car harness and use one of the engine side connectors for all the sensors to hook the truck harness to the car PDC. Ground the backside of the starter relay to bypass the neutral safety switch and since you`ll have the propper speed sensor, splice that into the TCM harness for the output sensor. Just be sure that you leave the speed sensor hooked up to the Durango PCM though, it needs that to control the transmission governor pressures, converter lock-up, and OD. You`ll probably need some sort of programmer to remove the speed limiter otherwise the Durango PCM will cut you out at what it sees as 115mph, which due to shorter tires will be considerably slower...

Also, depending on the year, most Durangos came with a 9.25 rear end. Which makes the conversion to small 5-bolt a little tricky. I`ll have to pull a drum at work, but if the center holes are the same, then you`ll just have to pull the shafts and have a machine shop redrill them for the 5 on 114mm pattern.

You`ll also need to pick up some universal electric fans. We`ve got them on the shelf at Advance for around $50 a piece and I`ve had no problems with a single 12" fan keeping up with my cooling needs. I also went with a stand alone fan controller for $30, also on the shelf at Advance, and a mechanical (ether bulb) temp gauge. But that`s not to say that that the car PCM didn`t run the fan(s) and stock gauge with the stock sensor added to the truck engine. I just like to be able to adjust when they come on and see exactly what my water temp is

Anyways, it all boils down to how much time you want to spend buried in the Haynes manuals for the car and the Durango... I can copy my notes, but I`m not sure they`ll be the same between a 95 ram and a durango which at the earliest would be a 97.

Note to self, and a word of caution. Make sure your donor vehicle has a good running engine before you swap. This one is mechanically sound, but the electronics are all shot. I already put a crank and cam position sensor in it as well as a brand new O2 sensor, but it has issues with the IAC motor, TPS, IAT, and ECT sensors. It has already fouled out my brand new plugs as well as the O2 sensor. I know the MPFI is a viable option, but this thing is going to nickel and dime me to death at this rate. It doesn't help that I couldn't leave well enough alone and modded the engine, which further threw the PCM for a loop.

So, lesson learned, unless you plan to go aftermarket FI control (ie Mega Squirt) or use a OBD II PCM that is much easier/cheaper to tune, go with a carb set up. I just found a really nice aluminum air gap intake that should do the trick, and I just happen to have a nice 600cfm vacuum secondary Holley square bore carb that was hiding under my tool box

how about going obd1 electronics? 92 magnum 318 makes some pretty good power.

How'd you get the tcm to send speed signal to the speedo?
