Front Brakes for 2001 Neon
Hey, I have had two people tell me that you can put srt-4 front brakes on a 2001 and up neon. Is this true? And if it is true, then the wilwood big brake kits made for 2003 and up srt-4's should fit my car right? And if it does not directly bolt up, what can I do to make a big brake kit fit my car? Or is there a company that sells a direct fit for my car?

RE: Front Brakes for 2001 Neon
if you wanted to use the wilwoods you might need a larger Master Cylinder too but im not sure about that.... it all depends on what size the calipers are.... and you also have to take into consideration that the SRT4 has 17" rims which have the space needed to fit those bigger brakes in there... just a thought, correct me if im wrong here....? but unless you are using your neon for some serious race applications you shouldn't need to change the brake calipers.... you can just go with drilled and slotted rotors, and match those with a nice exspensive set of compound brake pads, but my bet is that if you do that you are just asking for the ABS to go wild when you are just driving around down and someone stops short in front of you..... the ABS on neons can be kinda sensitive sometimes.... well at least on mine it can be sometimes haha

Awesome, all that info really helps, Yeah Im putting serious power down with the neon, about 25grand put into it, crate motor with ultra performance bottom end, crane 12 grind, everything internal is forged, 75shot wet kit of the zex, and every bolt on possible. And when I do the road race in town, my brakes almost catch on fire, oh the smell that produces. Thanks again for all you guys help, i will check it out.

ok well your going to have to prolly re-do the whole brake system if thats what you are doing..... and 25 grand!? please god dont you dare tell me you are running an N/A setup....... b/c for 25grand you might as well buy yourself a brand new WRX or Evo or something else that will give you fairly less exspensive results..... but hey if your already on your way with it good luck and dont kill yourself with that 75 shot...... and post some pics! ASAP!
