swapping is as simple as taking off the pillars, then the dash board, then unscrewing the cluster and undoning the wires. that is if you're doing tach to tach or non to non

the tach should work with just a swap all the wiring is in place but that may be different between years so that's what I was wondering about. I'm betting the harness is the same though.

All 00-05 Neons are wired for a tachometer, regardless of whether your cluster came from the factory with one or not. So, all you have to do is find a cluster with a tach, take out your old one, plug the new one in, and your done.

i have been readin some auctions on ebay for the white faced cluster, and have read that "most chrysler vehicles store the actual mileage in the ECU. Is this true, supposedly all you have to do is plug in the cluster and it should show your actual mileage because it supposedly "stores mileage in the ecu". anyone here actually swapped out clusters and this happen for them??

The mileage is stored in both locations, but if you plug in a different cluster your mileage will not appear on the cluster...the system just wasnt designed to erase the cluster memory and replace it with the ECU mileage reading. A GM will do it that way, but not on older Chrysler vehicles...
