RE: Official 2nd gen offtopic thread...
I got a ps3, it kicks ***. And i'm not as worried of it RROD...cuz they never mess up! Very very few isolate incidents of them overheating, the fan and heatsink for the ps3 is almost half the size of the entire unit. They're great.
I have a 360..love it, scared as hell all the time. Graphite was on cod4 all night CUZ HE WAS SCARED OF MY HALO OWNAGE.

For those of us at the end of the 3 year warranty, I think I have a year left despite getting a brand new console last month.....I have to start paying for the repair service right?

yep.
ps3 is overrated IMO, but how bout we chat about the format war! anyone have anymore information on it? I think HD-DVD will win because they are capable of making the combo format (Regular DVD and HD DVD). If one were to go the Blu Ray route, they would not be able to watch all their old movies on the same player. And i believe the HD combo is cheaper than a blu-ray disc, i could be wrong

I love blue ray...it's awesome. I don't notice any difference in quality.
I can tell you with Disney and the other movie companies in this battle, it's not going anywhere.
Blue ray has a lot better titles IMO...that's my deciding factor in getting a PS3

Blue-Ray exclusivity is only limited to the US or the Video company. Meaning that sites like www.amazon.co.uk or www.dvdgo.com sell Blue-Ray titles in HD format. Unlike Blue-Ray there is no region limitations with HD-DVD. This allows a german made HD-DVD to be played on a US player.
Also Disney is talking about releasing on HD-DVD also... I've also mentioned in the past that the **** industry has chosen HD-DVD. Yes, the larger companies like vivid have chosen blue-ray but 90% of the industry cannot afford to provide thier movies on Blue-ray.
Most of you are not old enough to remember the beta vs. vhs war. like the blue-ray HD battle, vhs won because of ****.
The combo packages are helping HD-DVD... Also HD is supposed to bump up the amount of data being held on a disc so blue-ray will soon lose that advantage. HD-DVD players can be found for under $200 today which also helps them out.
I personally do not notice a difference in quality between the two. I've said HD-DVD from the start and i continue to say HD-DVD.
