Default Prothane Motor Mount Inserts

I have the Prothane Motor Mount Inserts (Race). I don't have the directions in front of me now, but, I was reading the directions on how to install them and I believe the directions said you have to torque them to a certain pressure. Tell me if I'm wrong, I think it said you have to refer to the service manual for that information.

I bought my car without thinking about the car manuals (later realizing I didn't have any[:@]).

I called Crysler corp (b'c the dealership said I might save a penny if I called them) and they said the service manual was 90.00 dollars and the owners manual was 15 dollars. I really don't feel like spending that money right now (especially because of Christmas).

Do you have to torque it/ tighten it to a certain amount?
Is there a special way I am supposed to do it (since the directions said to refer to the manual)?

2000 Dodge Neon ES
I could have sworn it said to refer to the service manual though.

one of our "master techs" downstairs said that he would torque them to 40ish. he said that youll be "hard pressed to find a torque spec on a motor mount".

have you taken them out yet?

No I haven't taken them out yet. I was just reading the directions the other night. I am going to have someone else install them with a few other things.

set it to 40 lbs...see if it clicks...

then go to 45...see if it clicks...

like i said, the guy i talked to said 40ish should be adequate

they aren't hard to install...just make sure you support the motor slightly when you do it. I used a jack and a piece of wood and just put the jack enough to hold the motor while i could pull the bolt out and put the insert in and place the bolt back. The bottom mount you will have to take one of the plastic shields off to get at. The top mount is easy to get at. You should be able to handle the job in about 30-45 minutes I would think. Its not too hard.

Here is where the proper wording is needed. Your motor mount inserts aren't actually for the motor mounts, they are for the torque struts, the torque struts simply keep the engines twisting and torquing in check. The inserts limit this movement even more. And the factory service manual calls for these bolts to be torqued to 85 ft. lbs.
