Muscle cars have been running chrome valve covers for years... The problem is you not going to be able to find one for the 2.0l SOHC. I'd pic one up from the junk yard, sand blast it, then find a place to have it dipped.

i agree :-P but getting it dipped is usually very pricey.... and you have to make sure they dont coat the grooves for the sparkplug tube seals, and the main valve cover gasket groove....and possibly the threaded area where the oil fill cap goes.... other than that it shouldnt be much of a problem... and it would look niceeeeeee.. but you know i bet you could just get it painted with chrome paint like this.... http://www.alsacorp.com/products/kil...llerchrome.htm
then you could just get it sand blasted clean it off reall good and then just paint away... it should come out pretty good... not sure if that paint is good for high heat but it shouldnt be too bad.....
problem is that u can not sand blast plastic.. the problem that i have now is i have my hood scoop and it puts water and **** in from rainstorms, and the silver i painted last year looks just ok, and i want it looking REALLY good, i have seen a few painted valvecovers on other cars, but i wonder if they r painted when they were perchasedor the person painted them???? i would hope a painted valve cover would hold up better than a rattle can or spray gun??????
mine is holding up, but the texture from the stock valve cover is what i dont like....i could sand one down and get it smooth, and repaint it, so i could clear coat it and wax it, but sanding all that texture down would take ALOT of time......
