I'm no expert, but I've read that capacitors are just worthless. They just put more strain on your alternator to charge both the battery and the cap(acitor). I'd just just go ahead and get a good high quality alternator. I don't think they're much more than $200.

Asa professional installer for the last 19years, I've had the opportunity to play with caps a few times. To the OP -try a cap. Your amp isn't that big and it may just be enuf to mostly eliminate the dimming. Buy at least a 1farad one. A cap isn't a solution though, it's a bandaid, but like I say, it may do what you want it to.
The BEST thing to do is get a bigger alternator, upgrade the pathetic 10ga charge lead our cars have, upgrade the underhood grounds, and get a good high performance battery but a cap is like $50 and not several hundred so it's worth a shot.
