WHAT PROBLEMS COME WITH NEONS AND THE R/T
YEA I GOT MY R/T PROBLEM FIXED WAS JUST SHIFTING AT A LOW RPM THANKS GUYS NOW I WAS WONDERING WHAT PROBLEMS DO YOU MOSTLY GET OR HEAR ABOUT WITH THE NEON AND THE RT SINCE THAT IS WHAT I HAVE THANKS AGAIN IN RETURN
I have noticed so far that anything I want to do to the car is pretty easy. Not like a lot of other post 1975 smog cars were you just can't get to anything to fix or work on it. Dodge did a great job at setting the car up so you can at least get the parts out of the way and get to what you're going to work on and the spark plugs, wow, I love it. Easiest plug change I've EVER done even on my older pre-smog cars. Heck, they're easier to get to then my 300 straight 6 Ford and that was pretty easy. I just wonder how long it'll hold up to me pushing it to 6K rpm before I shift. LOL.

2nd gen (2000-2005) neons dont have nearly as many problems as the 1st gen neons, especially the leaky head gasket which is a god send, but the classic problems neons do have are as follows:
[ul][*]PCV valve goes bad (happens to all cars eventually less than $10 to fix and about 10min of labor time[*]Transmission problems (Auto has more problems and fluid needs to be changed when the manual says it needs to be changed, the MTX however is quite a bit stronger and to my knowledge less problems)[*]Outer CV's tend to go bad (make a clicking sound around turns)[*]Power Steering (the tubes like to break causing leaks, im pretty sure i have one but its too cold to fix it atm so im just waiting on some warm weather, also the belt that drives it like to go bad from time to time{rare})[*]Lugnuts and Wheel Studs... I can't even begin to tell you how many wheel studs i've broken and had to replace, cheap to replace but god the labor can be a pain in the @$$.[*]Warped Brake Rotors (not too common unless you are constantly slamming on the brakes)[*]Valve Tap.... prolly the most common problem neons have that dodge dealers say doesn't exist, not a serious problem unless you hear it when the engine is completely warmed up....[*]Valve cover gasket.... replace it when the manual says to or else you will get some oil leakage[*]Lastly, buy yourself a Haynes repair manual they have a fairly decent troubleshooting list as well as a few common problems and show you how to fix them.[/ul]Hope that helps...?
