Based on my experience with the AFX udp and a customized MPX udp, I think smaller lighter udps are crap. Companies that make lighter smaller udps always claim that they extend the life of the accessories but I didn't experience that. It reduced the life of my accessories for sure. Some people claim they don't have issues with them and some do have issues. I ended up going back to stock.
Oh... If u have a powerful sound system, stick with the stock udp for sure.

You can always get an ODP for your alternator...I will get one pending results

I put an AFX on mine, didn't see much of a change - except my wallet got lighter. [:@]

You could actually gain more power by just removing the PS system, lots of 1st gen guys have done so and they say you get a much better feeling for the road.
