so i have to ask since you obviously know your stuff, would you think that it would be a bad idea to turbo my 2.0? i've had it for close to a year with no problems so far BUT it has about 130,000 miles on it...

i keep seeing the turbo kit and i want to so bad... but it's an atx with a bit of miles on it, but i really want power out of my neon... i keep doing visual mods because it's cheaper and i don't know much mechanic wise, so to me it seems more practical... but if i could, i'd forego all exterior mods and save for a turbo if it would turn out well... but i keep reading posts on other forums telling people who want to turbo their 2.0 to, "just buy an srt"

sorry so long! i just think you'd be a good person to ask

well that is the problem with turboing a 2.0, u could go buy and srt, but the real problem is that is what most will do.... i think it is dumb, expesially if u have already put the time in visual mods into urs, why loose what u already have....

what kit are u looking at? hahn?

i wanted to be alittle differnet when i did my car, keeping it a 2.0 is i think differnent because most will either do a 2.4 swap or just buy an srt... granted the srt has more power if built, but i am not going after the fastest neon, i am going after a sleeper 02 neon, lol that will hopefully one day hit 11s... as for ur thought, i personaly like it, but u might be alittle disapointed in the auto... u could ask spikey how he liked his, for some reason i think his was auto?? correct me if i am wrong anyone.

are u looking for alot of power? or just something to make the car alittle faster?? just remember that boost will ware on stock internals more than simple bolt ons, my car has around 56k i think, so mine really never has any miles put on it.

i would suggest u decide what u want to do boost or not before u go start buying stuff such as headers and what not, because all that is is lost money if u ever decided to change, i made that mistake....

yup, the hahn racecraft staged turbo kits are the ones i'm looking at... mainly i wanted to gain as much hp as possible while still keeping a reliable DD... i was originally planning on turbo but after reading numerous posts on other forums i sort of got disuaded and decided to just go with a simple CAI, throttle body, exhaust etc., setup...

i drove my friends turboed acura in the past and although it wasn't the fastest car (ran somewhere in the 14's i believe), it was the funnest car i ever drove... i loved the sound and the way it would just gun (compared to what i normally drove)...

i really want to install the kit but i remember reading that aftermarket turbos can lead to tuning problems and become unreliable, which is pretty much the only thing pushing me away... that and the fact my engine has so many miles on it...

thanks, i really appreciate your input btw

a turbo setup can be as reliable as na, but like u just said, tuning is very important, i will be spending prolly a month to tune my car.. in a garage... and i have a freind that lives about an hr away that is going to come down and help me tune on the street... he has used ms several times and is very familar with the system and how it works

well i just spent 200 dollars at advance auto today, got some hardware, boost controler, and both front cv shafts, both had some play in them so i figured i might as well do it now insted of the middle of summer...

but i also got a freebee... yay for me, the shop i had did not charge me to press in my wheel bearing or ball joints, i love friends sometimes... tomorrow if it is decent out i am going to work on it prolly all day to get the cv shafts spindles, and control arms on... bleed the brakes if needed and go from there.. make sure i have brake pedal and work on the rest later... i am getting to the point that most of the work i have left to do is under the car... so hoping that will all go well and i can get all of it together very very soon, still have to get the fuel rail, all the fittings and fuel lines, but minor compared to what is left to be done....

also i have to put the front sway bar on later, i broke off three out of four bolts that attach the sway bar to the frame.... the car is not high enough for me to get a drill or anything underneath, so that will have to wait till i get get to a friends lift to do some work on it....

well i got all the front end back together yesterday. cv shafts, spindles and control arms, all painted and ready to go... i think the brakes are fine, i got pedal in them now so i think it is all good, next project i will be under the car for a while, prolly doing all the stuff with oil lines and wastegates... but not tonight... i have more important things to do...

wondering what u guys thought... do u think i should start the car on my stock fuel rail untill i get the money for the fuel rail and lines?? just so i can check for leaks and what not? what would it really hurt if i did that? i have to get the rail and the lines anyway, but i am getting alittle antsi to hear it run again? it will be about two weeks till i can get the rail, and a month to get the lines??

NO, the only reason i am even concidering it is just to fix leaks and what not, that is really it, because i am sure i will have some... that is all, but more than likly i will just wait to put the new rail on, not like i dont have other stuff to do. lol
