DCX called for this motor to take 5W-30 for a reason. The tolerances in the motor are a bit tighter, which makes the 5W-30 more accessable to critical surfaces than the 10W-30. Also, auto companies got really tired of doing catalytic converter warranty work... 10W-30 put in our 2.0-liters will generally go out of the exhaust a little more than 5W-30 or a lighter winter-weight will, and obviously go through the cat.
With these engines, under normal driving in normal climates, I would stay with the recommended 5W-30 or the 0W-30 FTW.

I've been contemplating on oil the past few days too. I've been running Mobil 1 majority of the time but I think I'm going to start putting AMS oil back in my cars. I've been reading lots of good stuff about it and think I want to go back.
Anyone have any input on AMS oil?
I would never push my car 10k+ or even close on one oil change.

Before I pushed mine that far, I never went past 3k miles, even though it was synthetic... I probably won't ever go that far again, ever, but I must say I was surprised how it held up. I wouldn't trust that all the time though, no sir... but still, it was food for thought considering the results.
I knew a guy once who used to be a mechanic for the Miss Budweiser hydroplane. He would just spin the filter off of that thing, add one quart and be done with it. He always swore by it. That's definitely food for thought too... although I never did try it lol.

I changed my oil today and i run 10w 30 valvoline with a quart of lucas oil stabilizer. I over went my oil change due to income and well i changed it today with 6,000+ miles. Drained it and stuck my finger in the way and to my surprise it was slightly tinted black. My roommate changed his rotella t in his truck that has been in there for a year and it was black completely and had less miles on it than me.
