Default future mods, need opinions and suggestions

i have come to the conclusion that i cannot help but start building up my daily. what i want to do is get it into or close to the 13's. i dont have alot of money so turbos/superchargers are out, as well as changing engines. the baseline for my 04 neon rt is 16.16 at 89mph (has k and n filter only), so as you see i have a long way to go. i havent found an overabundance of parts for second gens so my choices are kinda limited. but i plan to, change intake tubing and route in fender, use existing k and n. buy a larger throttle body, i have only seen 60mm ones but have heard that may be too large (you tell me), longtube header, qtp exhaust dump, with the switch to open and close when needed. short throw shifter, with the booger bushings, underdrive pulleys, and a 50 shot of nos. dont know if that will get me there but its gotta help. any suggestions or anything else i should do let me know.

Nice list of future upgrades. When and where do you plan on using NOS?

thats not gonna get you into the 13's and a 50 shot only at the track i hope..car isnt gonna last to long with a 50 shot..as far as a 60mm tb people say use it for turbo applications but its not gonna hurt anything but you could go with a 55mm from howell automotive...headers are always a good thing...udp its nice...best bet is to get some higher compression pistons..if you dont want to go turbo..how much are you looking to spend overall?? give everyone a better idea of what can be done with that price range

good list of mods, but just remember nos will brake down internals faster and cause problem in the future........ i would sugest the nos snyper kit if u r low on cash, cheaper than all other nos kits and work well in the neons, only thing that sucks is that nasty orange bottle, but they make paint everyday... :P

i go to the track religulously, so i would only use the nos there. i heard using 50-75 shot of nitrous wouldnt hurt a stock engine, at least thats what the distributors are saying. not trying to spend more than 2 grand. just really bored with the power in this car, need to liven it up a bit. i figure shoot for 13's,or around 200 hp motor. probably not gonna get there. also thought about changing cams, only found one choice. i just need biggest bang for my buck, and more power

as far as changing pistons, eh. not really trying to get into the bottom end, head work and cams is about as far as i would go. i gotta drive this thing everyday, and it cant have too much down time getting built

I had my head shaved, but then all the hair grew back...

I heard that removing the middle layer of the head gasket could raise compression by .5-1
Is this true? Wouldn't it be easier to break the gasket if 1/3 was missing?

get the head shaved.... i would think that would make the gasket pritty much useless....

if u r worried about down time do what i did, get an extra head and build it as u get money, then u have down time of only install time and not machine shop, install, and part time..... that is what i did and it worked out great....
