Most likely a bad plug or wire. Change them.

roadrnnr, I replaced the plugs with NGK plugs and the problem is gone. I dont remember the car ever running this smooth. Note to self: Champion spark plugs belong in the lawn mower only.

Sure

Most likely problem for what you desribed. Start with cheapest fix first.

You can test wires by wetting them in the dark and look for arcing but if they are bad internally you won't see anything.

You could also have a plugged air filter or clogged gas Filter or bad injector but not likely at 28K

Change Plugs first and then wires, Bet it fixes it

Hey Whatever anybody tells ya Neons are well built, pretty much trouble free cars when routine maintenace is done.

I have had a 2002 ACR, My son in law has a 2002, My Daughter is on her third,2005 SRT Design(only cause her second 2002 ES got wrecked).

I have had vitually no major problems with them except the ACR which got a new tranny only because it was a Skip Barber Car when new, and I hammered that one pretty good, Hey what can I say it was a blast to drive!

Usually if something is wrong with a newer one is is something simple.
