Exclamation Engine light came on and the motor sputtered a little bit when accelerate

i have a 2004 4 door dodge neon and last night when i got off work around 9pm i got in my car and tried to start it and it took it a second to start (never has done that before) and the check engine light came on. well i pulled out of the parking lot and when i pressed the gas to accelerate it began to miss and sputter like the car was trying to shut off. so i pulled over to call someone and i turned the car back on and it had no trouble starting that time and it stopped the sputtering but the engine light was still on. so this morning around noon i went to see if it would start and it started right up but the light is still on!!! i have no clue what may be wrong with it , if any EXPERIENCED mechanics would know what would be the problem PLEASE email me at LiveYourLife304@aim.com or just reply back on here... thanx

Post the cel (check engine light) codes. You can pull them yourself by turning your key on-off-on-off and then back on. By turning the key on I mean like just the ignition, don't actually start the vehicle up. It should flash the numbers on your speedometer and then it will say "DONE" when there are no more codes. Post what it comes up with. If you can't get it do that then go to Autozone or an auto place and have them tell you what codes your car is throwing. I'm sure someone will have an idea once you post the codes. Good luck.

Pull the code...

Turn the key from the off position to the on position three times quickly, ending in the on position, and your odometer should say "done," followed by any codes.

Trouble code P0522 means: Engine Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch Circuit Low Input
Trouble code P0340 means: No camshaft sensor signal at pcm.

P0522 is what caused by either your camshaft sensor is on it’s way out or you have a bad connection in the wiring somewhere. When this code comes up the engine goes into limp/home and will run very rich but will get you home.

Code P0340 can be oil pressure to low, more likely a bad sender unit, or in this case may have been set because the engine was stumbling and not maintaining a constant oil pressure.

Check the connectors on the cam sensor, you could also hook a oil pressure gauge to the oil sender fitting to check the pressure.

If it were mine, I would reset the computer by either disconnecting the battery or with and OBD11 scanner. Then see if the codes come back.

Is it running normal now? Is the oil light off?
It's always best to check sooner than later, particularly the oil pressure to avoid possible engine damage.
