Default How do I disable DRL on 2005 Dodge Neon?

I looked in the fuse box where two DRL fuses would go...nothing in there. Yet the headlights still come on when I start it up. Help!

Why do you want to disable the DRL?

Which fuse panel did you look in? Both?

Yes I looked in the door panel fuse box as well as under the hood in the Power Distibution Box. I want to disable the DRL because I don't like my headlights coming on when I first start my car plus it shortens the life of the headlights..plus I want to be able to cruise around with just my park lights on...the car looks much cooler that way.

DRLs won't significantly shorten the life of the bulbs; probably nothing you'd notice anyways. They run at a reduced output.

Perhaps a bad cluster however?
DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP MODULE

DESCRIPTION

Vehicles built for use in Canada are equipped with a Daytime Running Lamp (DRL) system. The DRL function is provided by the cluster. The DRL Module is an integral part of the instrument panel cluster.

The headlights do NOT run at a reduced output. The running lamps on my Neon are the actual headlights themselves and they are on at full intensity all the time! I've already had to replace a headlamp already due to them being on all the time when the engine is running. How do I disable this? Someone out there HAS to know. Would appreciate the much needed help.

Perhaps you didn't understand what I posted before. "The DRL Module is an integral part of the instrument panel cluster." Provided that sentence means exactly what it reads, the module that enables the DRL is integrated into your instrument panel. I imagine you'd have to buy a cluster from a non-DRL equipped Neon, then have it programmed at a dealer to work in your car.

My 00 Cavalier had DRLs. I found a tutorial that told me to cut and ground a wire that disabled them above the pedals under the dash. Maybe look for something along those lines?
