Should I keep my r/t exhaust or get a srt4 exhaust.
My rt is alright for looks but I want louder and cooler. Which is cooler a srt or a rt and better for my sxt in the longrun. I can sell my rt for 100 bucks and I have a srt exhaust on hold for 80 bucks shipped with 6000 miles on the exhaust.
Some sxt owners with the srt exhaust on says they get some horsepower more than stock. So I dont know which would be more showy thats what my sxt is bein set up for.

summit racing has a JET chip for 2nd GEN neons correct? Wont this counteract the computer?

also, the JET chips for the neon are a waste of garbage. very little gains, if any at all. the best bet for an early 2g would be an AFx ecu (www.howellautomotive.com)
The Monza/Pacesetter exhaust definently doesn't sound ricey. I also hate ricey exhaust (that's why I didn't get one). I haven't heard anyone say the Pacesetter sounded ricey (especially on the 2nd Gen. Neon).
Nobody has told me it sounded ricey at all (everyone says it sounds great). The car is quiet and gets loud enough when u step on it.
Borla has the best quality exhaust for the Neon though.
FYI, If u put a 3" exhaust on your Neon, you'll definently loose power.
When I heard how that Neon sounded w/ the SRT exhaust on the forum, I thought it sounded ricey. Like I said, it was designed for the SRT with the turbo to quiet the exhaust. It also sounds better on the SRT b/c the SRT has a 2.4L engine.

I just got my Borla exhaust on and am very pleased with the sound. Not ricey at all. It took me 2 months of fighting with Borla and eventually telling them to go stick it where the sun don't shine, I decided to take this matter into my own hands and just had an adapter made (stainless) and finally got it on.
Borla still can't understand that the SXT DOES NOT have the same outside pipe diameter as the Neon and SE. Their engineers could not understand this despite my efforts but I was SO PLEASED with the look of the exhaust and already had it paid for by the time they wouldn't help me [:@] that I just kept it.
It will get a little more growl in the lower end torque but it noticable even at idle.
They CLAIM to give roughly (with their CAT BACK) a 7-15% gain in horse which could calculate out to 14-21 horse assuming my K&N is pushing 7-8 horse like K&N's dyno shows.
I am concerned about the new knowledge about that DARN Next Generation Controller really makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside AFTER spending about a grand b/n the two.

I still like the look and can notice a gain...may not be exactly what it can but still is better than what I had.
Oh well.....

i would know, ive installed the pacesetter catback on two 2g neons, as well as had the catback on my 1g at one point in time, as well as have heard it on various neons at various car shows/events.at idle it doesnt sound "too bad" but it does get ricey when you get on it.
SlowAssNeon: No, you misunderstood me. I don't think it sounds ricey.
If u think it sounds ricey, that's your opinion. Hearing u say it sounds ricey is the first time I've heard someone say that.
ehorizon7: I want to see some pics (and an audio file/video if u can).
7-15% (14-21) hp gain sounds a little high. That was probably tested on a Neon w/ a lot of mods. Even so, it still sounds high.

while i do agree, that its my opinion.. my opinion is shared by many others.
but, my/our opinion matters little of course, as its your car, so the only person that should really care how their car sounds, is the owner

now with that said.. keep an eye on your pacesetter catback. the tips like to acquire rust spots on the "chrome" on the tips. the tips will generally start to rust from the inside-out, as well as the muffler too. keep a close eye on the welds for the hangers, as that is another major common problem area for rust and the pacesetter system.
