Shaking when stopped
It has nothing to do with the RPMS ! You are just going to burn more fuel if you raise the idle and you mess with the shift points in the tranny. I am waiting to post here but I will let you know what I have found out. The top torque strut is the one that has to be adjusted and I had a mechanic help me do it the other night. I tried it the way Darth wrote but now I know the engine didn't tilt as much as it should have. This time we loosened the struts and while I was in the car in reverse we tilted the motor all the way and he locked it down good. I have to say it's much better but it can be better because riding around all this time with the torque strut out of alignment ruined the rubber so I might have to do it again with a new strut. It is much better though it really is and I know I'm on the right track now. I will post again after I get the new strut to let you guys know for sure. So again you loosen the torque struts and put engine in reverse and tilt engine back and lock it down. The torque strut should press up against the mount and that is what holds the engine steady now I know this for sure. I have replaced all engine mounts on this car and would like to have a smooth idle as it's driving me crazy !
Dodge said the problem had to do with the RPMs dropping, hence the PCM upgrade. I needed my TCM flashed, so I had the PCM done at the same time. Just reporting those results back.
I'm not sure what you mean though...you put the transmission in reverse, tilted the engine back as far as it would go and tightened them down?

We do agree the idle is supposed to drop to 550 right? Because that's how low mine drops and that's where you get the better gas mileage at. 550 with no ac on. I called and they told me it's not for my year so I don't think that's the problem. I will keep you posted because we have some other things we are going to try. And please let me know how it goes by you !

I don't know what the RPMs are...I don't have a tach. 550 is low for any car though, IMO.
ramzm- I don't know if the update was issued for the 2002 Neons. I know it was for the 2003s, and it was supposed to fix several RPM issues the car has.

I have a 05 neon manual and it vibrates also only when I come to a stop once I put it in gear its fine also I've noticed that once it comes to a stop it vibrates then I give it some gas and the shaking stops have no idea what it is!!
Does it shake all the time or just some times and where is it idling when it shakes?
Ya, that's what mine does. With one foot on the brake I tap the gas with my other foot and it will bring the RPM's to 8 or 9k and no shake. Darth said earlier in the post that it might need flashed? I'm gonna check with the dealer here on that as its unsure what years need the update...
