Default Shaking when stopped

heres the situation. i kno nothing about cars. Nothing. my girl has a 05' neon sxt with 80,000 on it. we had it for about 3 yrs. well we took it to the shop to get a tune-up and when we got it back we noticed it was shaking when we were stopped. it does it when ever were not moving. sometimes the shaking is bad and some times its not as bad. what do u guys think could be the problem. thanks in advance

Some Neon's just do that. It could be bad torque struts, motor mount or misaligned torque struts.

On mine I'm leaning to motor mounts. I have changed the torque struts and it still does it. Check the struts and see if they are worn out, if so replace them. They are fairly cheap.

Maybe you need the idle raised? It's under the air cleaner box, I gave mine a couple of turns and now my rpm is back to normal and no more shaking. Case closed ! I did all the motor mounts and everything else people have said to do here.

Certain Neons have that adjustment, some don't. Definitely worth a try though if you have it!

if it didn't shake before the 'tuneup' I'd be looking at the wrong plugs installed.

Mines doing this too. When in park or neutral it doesn't shake. It doesn't shake while driving either but when I come to a stop while still in drive it shakes. And like yours sometimes it's worse than others and once in a while it doesn't shake at all.

I thought maybe it's the idol but I don't have a tachometer so I cant compare the difference. I'm going to install an instrument cluster with a tack in it as I've been told the tack will work?? I'll check for the idle adjustment too.

I just had some work done on the car, and the mechanic is right, all these cars shake and it's because of the rubber in the motor mount. I know this for sure because I backed off the bolt that holds it and the shaking is gone. Don't mess with your idle ! It's not that !

Is the bolt still as tight as it should be though?
