Remove the heater core hoses next to the engine and get the socket for it. Autozone has it unless you already have a 1 1/16" deep well. Are you putting in a new sending unit or going the gauge route?

I just reached in over the top of the valve cover. It all depends what's easiest for you.

I also removed the battery which made it easier to get a feel for the thing plus it's always good to disconnect the battery when you're switching sensors.. I tried over the valve cover but that didn't work too well for me.

Thanks guys! I'm going to work on it today. I'll just remove the hood for ease of access. I just bought a replacement sending unit since I don't have much time to do the other stuff.

Hey guys, SUCCESS! I was able to replace the sensor over the weekend... Monday goes by, no issues. Today, the damn warning light comes on again.

So here's the back story.

Oil Pressure warning light keeps coming on, so I did an engine flush (twice) and replaced oil and filter. That did not fix the problem. Then I replaced the sending unit, worked for one day and the light is back on.

I just called my local AAMCO repair shop and they said they will charge between $150 to $250 just to do a diagnostic.

What would you all recommend? Should I just go right ahead and replace the oil pump?

What exactly was this "engine flush?"

It was the "Gunk" brand motor flush.

Instead of spending that much just put a mechanical gauge instead of the sensor. Doing that will tell you how much pressure you have vs a dummy light. That's a big reason I just did it that way.

What is the total cost to do that?

Gauge kit plus pod plus the time to install it.
