Snug? I don't recall there being an actual torque value; I'd be surprised if you could get a torque wrench in there anyways...

there is a value. Never over-tighten a pipe thread, like the oil pressure switch, you can break things as pipe threads are tapered. Don't use thread tape on it either. that will insulate the electrical circuit and the light wont work. Go here for the best answer http://www.mechanicsupport.com/articleFittingTight.html

I'm curious what that value is?
From the site you linked to:
As a general rule, fittings with tapered pipe threads (NPT) should not be assembled to a specific torque
Most screwed piping is tightened until it feels "right" and the fitting is pointing in the desired direction.
You'll need to use a thread sealant, but no, you shouldn't be using so much that is keeping the sensor from grounding. Use a wrap or two of teflon tape, or a dab of sealant, and that's it.

The value is don't over tighten cuz you fk something up. I wouldn't use tape on the sender... it won't ground thru the tape, use pipe sealant like pipe dope. the metal of the sender will still be in contact with the metal of the block.

The new sender will already have some sealant on it so you dont add anything else, Just a little past finger tight is all you need or risk cracking the plastic on it. Ive tried 3 aftermarket sensors and a dealer one and they all have leaked through the sensor itself within 10K miles./ The original stock one went 60K though. They are all pieces of crap even the dealer one.

Default location help

Hello All,

I know this is an old thread, but I'm hoping to get some help. I'm having a problem with my oil pressure warning signal and oil pressure warning light intermittently going off everytime I let off the gas and come to a stop and and idle.

I've already purchased a replacement sending unit, but need help with location. I have a 2003 2.0 sxt. I've searched online to find the exact frigging location, but no luck.

Thanks for the help.

If you are standing in front of the car facing the engine, it's just to the right of the center of the engine on the backside. A real PITA to get at.

There's pics with the location in this thread. Instead of replacing the sensor, I put in a mechanical gauge. The gauge was $16 from Autozone and had to get a hydraulic line fitting for $5. I took out the bulb in the cluster so I wouldn't have to deal with the light constantly being on. It's nice to see what your actual pressure is vs wondering. Hope it helps. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...osing-oil.html

Default Thanks!

Hey guys, I really appreciate it. I will get on it this weekend. Any tips on how to get to the PITA switch?
