Question Aftermarket fuel pump

Who makes a fuel pump that doesn't have a filter attached to it that will work for our cars? Another thread got me thinking about this but I didn't want to hijack it. I'm thinking of putting a new pump in and then doing an in line fuel filter.

All fuel pumps have a filter/screen on them. There is the main filter on these cars that can be changed fairly quickly, depending on your experience with them.

Do you mean the filter that's attached to the pump when you say main filter? If so, I've never done a fuel pump on any car.

No, that's the screen-type filter. There's a serviceable filter (a "real" filter) on the top of the fuel pump assembly.

the filter he is talking about is called a fuel pressure regulator/fuel filter, i replaced mine awhile back and it was almost a 100$ if i remember right, it was right after i bought the car, so it might be more now.

and i got a question, how can you tell if they are getting clogged? anyway without takeing it off and blowing through it? i have a buddy with another 03 neon sxt manual and it bogs in low rpms take a bit for it to start picking up, and he put new plugs and wires in, only thing i can think of is that when we where camping he ran out of gas and was drunk and took a dirty jug and syphoned gas out of my truck and put it in his car i'd say a little over a gallon worth so i was thinking that maybe that dirty gas could of clogged up that filter a bit, but dont want to jack up his car and crawl under if this is not the problem.

The filter is like $30 at Dodgeparts.com. Not too much difference from many OEM replacement filters.

New filter. There was originally a misprint by Dodge that said the whole assembly had to be replaced, but it does not. It is on the outside of the tank, but still by the pump assembly.
