Ok so I just got my compressor replaced, and it's still not kicking in. I'm beginning to think its an electrical problem. What switches would I need to replace or check?

 

Also. I looked up the climate controls online, and they have one for with ac and without ac. I compared mine to them both and it appears to be the one without ac. Is there a distinct visual difference between the two modules?

 

You need to be 100% certain that the system is full of refrigerant otherwise it will not allow the compressor to turn on.

AFTER you have done that, check for power and ground to the compressor and tell us what you find.

 

I am POSITIVE that the system is charged. A friend of mine said that I could "jump the compressor" by running a jump wire from the positive end of the battery to the positive lead on the clutch connector. True? How could i go about that?

Also. I am seriously suspecting the blower controls. The one in my car looks exactly like the "without a/c" model, shown here : http://contentinfo.autozone.com/znet...W2332/image/4/.

While only slight, the difference is there isn't an "L" on the far right control.

Opinions?

 

Has your A/C worked before? And you would jump it with 2 wires that you have laying around coming from the positive and negative on the battery.

 

A/C has never worked, mainly because the high side line valve core was...missing. I'm taking it to someone to get it jumped today, as they have more experience than me on this issue, and I lerarn from seeing and experiencing.

 

Ok so he jumped the comrpessor and to my amazement, it kicked the clutch in.. Started it up and he jumped it again and I had cold air. So it really is an electrical problem. Where do I start? I would say the control switch. So this leads back to my original question: Is there a visual difference between the "without a/c" control switch and the "with a/c" control switch?

 

start with the connector @ the compressor the wires are really small and break inside the sheathing easily. I looked for weeks until Darth told me to keep it simple... found it 20 minutes later during the 115 degree summer

 

The wire at the compressor works just fine. Where next?

 

Determine whether you are missing power or ground to the Compressor.

My control switch only has a switch for blower speed, 4 speeds with non A/C, and 4 speeds that are blue indicating A/C which also signals the compressor. There is no A/C button or anything like that.

Another thing to check is the pressure switch which can sometimes fail, preventing the compressor from engaging. You can unplug the switch and jump the connector with a paperclip to simulate the switch, Although definitely not the preferred method.
