thumping sound
Alright so here's the deal. I was doing highway speeds down the road and suddenly the guy in front of me decides it's a smart idea to slam on the brakes for no reason and cut into my lane so he can make his exit which is still another mile down the road. So I jump on the brakes pretty hard and end up veering into another lane while doing so (I locked up the brakes). This was on dry pavement and a little cold out. Now driving there's a thumping but there are no visible bald spots on my tires. Is there something that could have been knocked loose or started leaking that would cause this shaking? Could it be an engine mount? Tranny fluid? Any insight would be appreciated.
Have the balance on the tires checked. You might have thrown it off. That'll get you the same noise if its what I'm thinking it sounds like.
A local shop should be able to do it relatively quick/cheap.

same exact thing happened 2 my friend u prob burned off a few milimeters of rubber that u cant notice by looking at it it will go away with time but 2 lessen the noise, rotate your front tires to the back
The tranny is completely out of the equation, as are the motor mounts. A mount wouldn't break by jamming on the brakes unless it was already almost completely broken or rusted-out. If the thumping frequency is speed dependent, you do have flat spots on at least one tire, you just can't see it.
