i can agree with you on how much fun a beater with some money is but you have to remember that your taking a stock srt4 and dumping 10 grand just to beat a stock sti!! Buy a used sti for 24G and dump 6G into it and youll have ALOT more fun for the same price!!!!

not really ifd you have done some mods and some supsension work then you have a good car!!!!!! not all srt cars are made the same, every one is different!!!!! lets say you put in a cai and pulley kit with headers and a new exhuast then you have a good fast car, but if you want more speed then you will have to build your susension then to take all that weight... it must be tune every time you do some thing to it!!!!!!

I won't call you an idiot but you're definitely WRONG about the SRT-4. Some of the cars I've beaten, rather easily include a 2001 Mustang GT, a 99 Camaro SS, A 2002 Hoda Accord V-6, a Pontiac Solstice ( I about had to run it over to get it to change lanes ) lol, A Nissan Sentra Spec V ( not even close ).

Ok but the first gen with srt swap for $8000 + say another $5000 in dress-up stuff = $13000 ,and you can still afford to have a life!![:-] I guess I'm saying that a Suby is just to exspensive for the fun value you get out of a neon

not to be an *** but i think that the srt is a quick car for what it is, and you can get alot of power out of one!!! now i am assuming that the person that posted this post is talking about a stock neon????? as for stock the base line neon is one of the quickest cars in its class but, you can get some good ganes out of them with intake and exhaust, my se is not a power house but i have alot more done than just intake and exhaust to, but i have ran an integra se with a 100 shot of nitrous and lost to it by four tenths of a second!!! it just depends on the racing you are doing, if you go to the track most do not take a stock car to the track.... but on the street some idiots will try to run you with a metro.......it depends on how much money you have to make a neon fast.....but that is with anything if you have the money you can make a 400 hp SOHC neon like the on is SCC.....

I guess what I'm saying is $ for $ a neon is a good performing car. You can build a 13 second neon for under $10,000 easy.,take a dohc engine,polish and port the intake & head,put some cams ,a 55mm tbl and a header with an opened up exhaust. Lose a little wieght and you should be there..Try that with a Honda!!!!
