me and da2123 are having a debate. would you rather for $21000 you can have a neon sxt a howell engine(ported and built head and cam forged pistons 8.6 comp) and a 20g turbo borlo exaghst boost contolls feul piggyback and a suspension. Or a factory srt4. please help end this dabate. you can also refere to need help thread on the main neon page.

Go with the $21,000 SXT. It has a better turbo in it and the engine itself is built more for tuning on! (IMO)

SXT ALL THE WAY!

Three Reasons 1) FASTER, 2) WAY MORE CUSTOM 3) NO ONE ELSE IS GONNA HAVE THAT, or very very few

also there are some other reason such as the 2.0 if built right will rev higher than a 2.4 also lighter, smaller front tires gear the car down so the car reaches higher rpm's faster, etc... I could go on for days, but really it's just that fact that it would be rear and I'm sick of srt-4 owners thinking there the **** and not classifying their cars as neons.

Ok, so my options are:

1. 2003 SXT (Pistons/rods/race head, w/ suspension work, etc...)

or

2. 2003 SRT-4 (Stock)

Well if your going for straight up out-of-the box performance i would choose the built SXT hands down...if i'm going for cheaper insurance i would also go for the SXT...if i'm going for daily driver "reliabilty" i would go for the SRT-4...

But i gotta ask you fullbuilt...what are you using for your fuel management?

If it is your daily driver and only car then get an SRT4 and add the stages as you can afford them for reliable proven performance with great drivability.

If you are doing it as a modding exercise and just to play and tinker with then go with the SXT.

So for me it depends on use what would be better. Judging by a budget constraint I would guess you are using it as you daily transportation so SRT and forget it.

the point of the debat was that you would end up spending alot more on the srt4 so adding parts is not an option. i would never realy on my car as a daily driver thats what my trucks for. As far as fuel managers i still have a thing or two to learn and hear that with the accel dfi that most people dont use more thatn half of its full functions. I would like to find someone who knows how to use it properly first.

If it was me I would go SRT all the way. There is more potential, its factory tuned and turbo'd, and there is factory stages if you want to go that route. I would go with the srt and call it a day.

look at it this way....
srt4 already has a good enough suspension....so you wouldnt have to upgrade...
srt4 turbo is reliable and small enough to spool quickly

i dont know if i would trust a howell motor or not....

plus by now you can get a low miles stage 3 srt4 with alot of upgrades for about $18,000 if not less....

id get the srt4......then you also get the rims, interior, nice sounding exhaust, and the fastest stock 4 cylinder that was available at the time.......almost any stock turbo car is gonna be more reliable then a kit car
