Default How much hp can i expect?

lets assume that i already have a cold air intake, aftermarket throttle body, underdrive pulley, header, high flow cat, and catback. I am considering finding a complete replacement engine. Having the bottom end rebuilt with the kit from modern performance with the .20 over bore pistons. and then getting the top end rebuilt from howell automotive, with all the performance head parts. this looks to be about a 4000$ job. What kind of horse power gain can i expect form doing this? I want to stay all motor, this is my every day driver.

well yea when i have the head rebuilt from howell i would add a crane cam, i spose i would give them the specs of what i was doing so they could give me the cam that would work the best for my setup.

If you want to stay all motor put high compression pistons in it. Make sure to get a cam with valve springs so you can get some more revs out of it. Right now you have at tops maybe 125whp, unless you have an R/t. If you have one of those then add about 10hp. You will not be anywhere near 215hp even after a rebuild. You'll be looking at probably more like 170-180 hp after all thats said and done. If you want huge power just quit with the all motor setup, boost it.

dont read to much into hp the last allmotor that beat me had 100hp less than me. a mear 200whp allmotor could put you in the 12s. you need to figure out what kind of racing you want to do.

Oh its an 01 neon es, and like i said its my every day driver, i dont know how much faith i would have in my car if i turboed it. for the amount of miles i put on every day, the way i look at it... a turbo is just one more thing to break. I think the stock neon has some amazing snap and speed, i wouldnt shake a stick at 170-180 whp! I would be completly happy with that! And for as many neons as there are on the road, i guarentee i'm only gonna see one out of every 300 that come anywhere close to what i wanna do. But untill then, i'll just have to be one of the 300 slower neons...

That is true. I know its hard as hell to crack 200whp all motor with a SOHC. Not that I have tried...but I've read plenty about it.

I'm not into racing, actually i dont think ive ever even broke the tires loose on my neon, i just like passing people faster then hell, seeing other neons on the interstate and blowing there doors off. And any time i see a civic with a fart can on it riding my ***, i like to leave them in the dust. I just would like to do these things faster! I have no interest in racing my car.

If youre not into racing why would you rebuild the motor, get an CAI, Throttlebody, and catback exhaust enough hp to give u some go and a still keep it as a daily driver.

it sound like you want more of an auto cross performance. i would suggest 10.5 compression and a 10 grind cam that would give that quick punch your looking for. daily driving with a turbo is fine as long as you dont get greedy with the boost. most turbo kits start you off with about 6-8 lbs of boost and there very reliable at that range. just dont get a boost conntroller or disconnect your wastegate line.
